Designer’s Statement

As industrial robotic arms become more accessible and advances in sensing allows us to prototype robotics with spatial awareness for usage beyond industry and automation. This thesis approaches the domain of human robots relations as an undeveloped one. This is either because the research focus of robotics has been too narrow on a very specific technical task or because the operational, safety concerns and a ordances of robotics constitute a barrier for a deeper exploration of the field in a more serendipitous way. Sympoeisis*, meaning co-crafting or co-making, argues that there is an exciting and yet undeveloped field of robotics as design material.
