V4Design

Horizon2020 project

The research project ‘V4Design – Visual and textual content re-purposing for architecture, design and VR-games’ is a Horizon2020 project, funded by the European Commission under the research call ‘ICT-20-2017 – Tools for smart digital content in the creative industries’.

V4Design promotes the re-use of visual and textual content, such as documentaries, images and their textual information so as to be repurposed and be used for inspiration to architectural and video game (VR) design. Visual content analysis is performed through 3D reconstruction and modelling, localization of objects in visual data, automated extraction of aesthetics, style information and language understanding from visual and textual data. 3D objects are further enhanced through semantics and explanatory text descriptions.
V4Design develops a platform that provides architects, video game creators and designers of any expertise with innovative tools necessary to enhance and simplify the creative phase of the designing process. The platform is currently in beta phase (Prototype v2) working as a plugin for Grasshopper3D (Rhino3D) and Unity.

I have worked with CERTH and AUTh in the conception and formulation of the proposal that ranked first and secured funding from the EU. As a researcher of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki I offered technical expertise regarding architectural design. In addition, we as a team were in charge of the user requirements and evaluation of the tool. Worked closely with technical, user partners and content providers to deploy beta versions and final version of the platform.
